When I first visited this house 10 years ago I felt it was crying out for someone with the funds and foresight to see the potential and realised it. Today I can honestly say that my belief in this house has been fulfilled. It is beautiful. There is nothing I can fault. From the entrance to the classic courtyard; to the finish and appearance to the house, gîte and outbuildings and the internal decor the presentation and quality is stunning.

The house is very unusual for this region, unique in style. Entry is into the hall with its high ceiling and exposed stone walls. To the left is the fitted kitchen dining room with ancient stone fireplace, to the right the large lounge. The wood-burning stoves in both rooms remain. Beyond the kitchen is a toilet and utility area. Up stairs to a large landing/office with shower room, two double bedrooms and the master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and en suite bathroom. The 4 bedroomed gîte forms the right arm of the courtyard but with a clever twist; an access drive to the rear of the house to the back entrance of the gîte gives house and courtyard privacy – and for the guests. I think the work that has been done to convert this area is the best I have ever seen and is full of all the character looked for in France, without compromising on comfort. The accommodation consists of large fully fitted and equipped kitchen/dining room/ day room, lounge with mezzanine floor and two single beds, shower room, and three further double bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms.

The outbuildings to the left could be developed, including the bread-oven. There is a large barn to the rear. The land is laid to grass mainly with fruit trees. There is a 11 x 5 pool, heated with solar panels; this is behind the gîte and is enjoyed by the guests.

On the edge of a small hamlet it is 3 km to the market town of Sauzé Vaussais with all facilites. Poiiters or Angoulême are less than 1 hour away. Here are airports (Ryanair), TGV Stations, extensive shopping and historic centres.
